BlackBerry and Ludwig’s Roses

Research In Motion (RIM), the developer of the  BlackBerry® solution, supported Missing Children SA in the following ways:

The BlackBerry Rose in aid of Missing Children SA:

• A deep-red BlackBerry® Rose especially cultivated for BlackBerry was launched in February 2010 in collaboration with Ludwig’s Rose Farm. It has since been available through Ludwig’s Rose Farm and selected retail outlets countrywide.

• As part of this BlackBerry initiative, Ludwig’s Roses donates R5 from the proceeds from the sale of each rose bush to Missing Children South Africa. RIM, the company behind the BlackBerry® solution, matches this with a R5 contribution of its own.
BlackBerry smartphones sponsorship:

• Missing Children South Africa has also benefitted from the BlackBerry®smartphones which RIM donated to the organisation.

• The organisation engages with radio stations, newspapers, websites and other mediums when a child goes missing so that the general public can help to find him or her. The BlackBerry smartphones allow Missing Children South Africa to engage with media, update their website and Facebook pages as well as their Twitter feeds; send emails, SMS and MMS messages out, as soon as they receive news about a missing child, even when they are on the move. The sooner the word about a missing child is spread, the better the chances for his or her safe return are.
